BALL STATE GYMNASTICS COMPETITIVE CLUB TEAM
Show off your skills and routines against other university club teams from around the midwest!
The Ball State Competitive Team travels to 2-4 NAIGC gymnastics meets around the midwest, beginning in January of spring semester. The competitive season ends with the NAIGC National Meet in April, held at various cities around the country! NAIGC offers levels from Xcel silver (beginner) all the way up to level 9 or NCAA. There is no level requirement to compete with the Ball State team and team members can choose which level and events they would like to compete based on skills. |

More information on club requirements are discussed at our competitive team information meeting held during the fall semester. COMPETITIVE TEAM FAQ
Am I required to participate in all meets that the club attends during the year? |
The Ball State competitive team only requires participation in one meet if you choose to join the competitive team. If you decide that competing isn't for you or have a schedule conflict that prevents you from attending other meets, you are not required to attend additional competitions.
|
We allocate the majority of our fundraising throughout the year to be able to cover meet registration fees and travel expenses for our competitive team members. The only expense members are typically responsible for during team travel are meals. Our informational meeting provides more information regarding travel expenses and expectations.
|
Is there any additional cost required to be a member of the competitive team? |
Am I required to participate in all women's or men's events to compete? |
You can choose to participate in as many or as few events as you would like in a competition! Women's events include vault, bars, beam, and floor, while men's events include floor, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and high bar. NAIGC also offers the option to compete in the event decathlon, where you compete in all 10 men's and women's events. A great challenge for those with prior gymnastics experience!

Competitive team members can choose their own floor music with approval from the executive board and provided it meets competition requirements. Floor music cannot have any lyrics and must fit within the time requirements based on the level you are competing. Team members are encouraged to be creative and develop their own routines, but we have members with choreography experience that can help if you need it! All routines for any event must also be approved prior to competition by the executive board to ensure all level requirements are met and the routine reflects club values appropriately.
|
Do I have to provide my own routines or floor music for events? |
How do I decide which level and/or skills to compete? |
We conduct evaluations at the beginning of the semester to help you determine which level most matches your current skills. There are also several members in our club with experience that will help you make sure your routines meet all of the skill requirements for the level you wish to compete. Visit our documents tab for links to the different level requirements for men's and women's events.
